Jonathan
Jonathan Maker was founded by Jonathan Thomas, a designer maker with over 25 years of experience in the creative industries. With an award-winning portfolio and a commitment to design through making, his work spans interiors, installations, and furniture, with a focus on thoughtful design, sustainable methods, and skilled craftsmanship.
His design career has included collaborations with some of the UK and Europe’s most recognisable creative names, including work for Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, and the iconic Parisian concept store Colette. Previous projects range from interior design for the WPP media group to bespoke Savile Row window displays and marketing campaigns for the National Gallery. He was also instrumental in helping establish Heatherwick Studio, working closely with Tom Heatherwick in its formative years.
He became the first individual to be awarded a D&AD ‘Black Pencil’ in recognition of innovation in manufacturing for design — a rare distinction in the field. Alongside his professional practice, he has lectured in 3D design at UCA Canterbury, London Metropolitan University, and the Surrey Institute of Art & Design. He also founded the multi-disciplinary design company Make Limited, which earned several awards for its cross-sector creative output.
Now based in London, he continues to design and make under the Jonathan Maker name. He lives with his wife and two daughters.
